Tis The Season To Get Crafty

I cannot believe that Christmas is less than a month away! Where has the year gone? I LOVE Christmas and the whole festive sprit. Though I must say that since moving to a small city that does not have a Myer, I really miss the Myer Christmas shop!

I have begun my Christmas craft with some festive bunting here using Kaisercrafts beautiful papers. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I really like the lace and ribbon on the flags too, the perfect finishing touch.

Happy 21st to my lovely sister Vanessa.

Boy Oh Boy

Something I really struggle with is creating masculine layouts and cards. Coming from a practically all female family you can understand why. When my brother was younger I would scrap the many photos of him using bright and vibrant colours. But he is almost a teenager now and bright is not really my style anymore. So I have found that now I create vintage style layouts for the boys and men in my life. I use paper with word print or maps on them, old book pages, buttons, twine and ticket stubs. I find this vintage element really suits the masculine theme without looking too girly like my other layouts. And since the majority of my layouts do hold a vintage element, now they can all tie in together.

Flower Power

I love scrapping layouts using bright floral papers and lots of paper flowers, as you can probably tell from the majority of my posts. Here are my most recent ones I have created. Loving the blue, pinks, yellow and green together.

Thrifty Times

I love finding bits and bobs from op shops to use in my craft. I regularly buy lace and buttons as they as so much cheaper. I was inspired this afternoon to make some cards using old sewing patterns.

I've also started collecting old Little Golden Books (I love collecting anything!). The pages are good to use in my scrapbook layouts featuring my little brother, or my young cousins. I'm thinking of making some cards with the book pages too but have not quite thought how to do so.

Fit for a Queen

Over the past few months my Mum has been re-decorating her and Dad's bedroom. Mum has done a pink, black and grey glam theme. She is a very lucky woman to have a husband who does not mind what colour his wife paints his bedroom!

Mum has sewn the pillows and cushions herself after hunting for just the right fabrics.

She has repainted the furniture and added these glass knobs and bead bling for handles. Inside this
frame is scrapbooking paper.

And I love this idea: vintage doily's in a frame backed with pretty paper! I know I have inherited Mum's craftiness!

Take Time to Smell the Roses...

I think spring would be my favourite season. I love the bright sunny days that are not too hot. And all the flowers in bloom like a colour explosion. They can be so bright and intense it is like an artist painted the flowers himself (or herself).

During my week holiday I returned to my home town and enjoyed a lovely stroll in the Botanic Gardens with my Mum. It's times like this when work has been hectic that you forget to take time to smell the roses, so it is nice to have the opportunity to do so again.

I love trees. The shape of the old gnarled branches and huge roots are fasinating.

I was playing around with photoediting softwear and this is the result. It really looks like a drawing!
