Can You Hear the Trees Whispering?

I love painting trees. This one here is in the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens. I love how the roots are above the ground and so think and gnarly. I painted this over a year ago. I've got two others similar, however my Mum loves them so much that she did not let me take them when I moved out of home over two years ago. They hang proudly on her living room wall.

Here are some ocean paintings as well.

Do you recognise this image? It was one of the farm photos I posted at the beginning of the year. It is not finished yet, I am going to shade it was lead pencil along with ink. Originally I thought I would use watercolour but I like it in black and white. It has more impact I think.

Cameo Love

I have a growing collection of cameos. This first one was my Great Aunty's mother or grandmother's. She gave it to me as she thought it belongs around my neck rather in in her wardrobe. I made the the pearl necklace to hang it from. It's that old it is most likely Victorian

Notice that the black and white one is actually a skeleton lady? Rather steampunk don't you think?

Of course all of these are handmade by me!

Mirror, Mirror

I saw this lovely mirrored cake stand in a gift shop. However it is far too pretty to have cupcakes sitting on top, no matter how yummy they are. I envisioned the stand on my bed side table with lovely crystal jewellery sitting on top. And there it is…

Summer Days

The whole state is suffering through a heat wave at the moment and I am struggling to be motivated to do anything, except eat dairy free coconut ice cream and drink orange juice. So I forced myself off the couch and decided to take some photographs of light summer dresses perfect for days like these. I love pastel colours and vintage floral patterns for the warmer months.

A favorite of mine is the orange shirt dress with the blue flowers. Burnt orange and blue are a fantastic colour combination. I wear the dress with a skinny blue belt and red shoes/ bag. The blue dress is a crochet lace design which looks wonderful with a skinny red belt around the waist. The purple dress I found at the Mill Market. It is best for picnics on summer days. The skirt is twirly too.

Happy New Year/ Sunburnt Country

I usually don’t make New Year’s resolutions as I think it is pointless to pick something I may not stick too. So this year I decided to choose an achievable one: to paint more and take more photographs, especially farm and industrial landscapes. So I began this on Christmas Day taking photos around my Uncle’s farm in the 35+ degree Celsius heat.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Christmas Day was spent on my Uncle’s farm. He has mainly crops (such as wheat and canola) and some sheep and pigs. This lovely one, Lucy is a pet. She was baaing after we finished Christmas lunch wanting her turn to eat.
