Red and Black

A couple of months ago I started a new job as a children's librarian in the city which involved me relocating from the small beach side city I lived in. Now instead of a uniform I get to wear 'smart casual' to work. I thought I would do a few fashion posts over the coming weeks on my favourite outfits I wear to work.

I love teaming red and black together. I think the combination is striking. As you will notice I love my colourful stockings. I also think it's a nice touch as I work with pre school children who are only leg height!

This is a lovely high waisted  skirt with a cute flouncy ruffle along the bottom. I love the black top with the white crochet lace along the top-it's very elegant. A red cardi is a must when it gets chilly and red stockings and black boots complete the outfit. The whole outfit did not cost much. The skirt is from Kmart and top from Valley Girl (I have the same top in light grey and blue as well), stockings and boots are from Target.

Thank you to my little brother Leigh who is playing the photographer!

Look At Me!

Yep, that's right. I bought a new house! Yay!!!!

Still a couple of months til I move in, but when I do stay tuned for posts on decorating while I make my new house a home.

Ps. Check out my cute outfit! I love this skater skirt with the stripy top and my black lace up boots. I'm loving my new biker leggings too. They have patches of leather on them!

Book Worm

It has occurred to me that I may never have posted what my favourite books of all time are. I love reading so shame on me!

Drum roll please:
  • Anything by Melina Machehetta, especially The Piper’s Son and the Lumatere Chronicles.
  • Matthew Reilly, especially Temple.
  • The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini.
  • Harry Potter- J. K. Rowling (I grew up reading HP, I was always the same age as Harry when a new book came out. And I must admit I was very disappointed when I turned 11 and never received my Hogwarts letter. The owl must have got lost…).
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
  • Divergent Series by Veronica Roth.
  • The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.
  • The De Vinci Code- Dan Brown.
On my to read list:
  • The Mortal Instruments-  (I’ve read the first book and liked it).
  • Witched of East End.
  • Fallen series.

The Lonely God

Hello to you all on this cold winters day.

I thought I would share with you some more photos I took of the Barwon River when I was at Barwon Heads a couple of weeks ago. I love how lonely the beach is in the middle of winter.

Tartan Style

So I have these awesome tartan leggings that I love but I don't wear that much as they are very busy. Today I teemed them with a grey top and purple 1960s style dress. Purple boots and a skinny brown belt complete the look. Very cute I think!

High Style Hair Styles OR 'the hair comb volume creating thingy'

I love the  1960s hair styles- volume to the max!!! Here is a nice simple half up-do I wear often.
I back comb all the hair at the crown and slide one of those hair comb thingys that create volume (I actually have no idea what it is called so I have cristened it 'the hair comb volume creating thingy!). underneath. Then I smooth the hair over top and tie it with a hair band. A jewelled clip finished the look.

Here is the hair comb volume creating thingy.

This second style I saw on a lovely blog called A Beautiful Mess (http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2012/03/maiden-twists-hairstyle-diy-.html)
I've basically created a twisted head band from twisting two strands of hair from under my left ear and bringing it across the top of my head and securing with a cute bow clip above my right ear.

Winter Days

My Mum and I went for a beach walk at Barwon Heads on a cold winters day. I love the beach in winter, it is so wild and dangerous.
